For my architectural projects, I needed a handle close to my way of designing – a silent object with good proportions that would play its role with character, but without being overbearing. The departure point for the project was linked to the idea of industrial aesthetics more than decorativeness. I wanted a pared-down look, almost an archetype.

Lissoni’s design projects are discreet, though a closer look shows they are the result of painstaking refinement, with economy as their strong point. His knowledge of the manufacturing process has allowed him to work for long stints as the art director at Boffi, Porro, and Living Divani. Graduating in Architecture from the Milan Polytechnic in 1985, he heads up a firm that has progressively grown until it comprises graphics and architectural divisions. His most recent creations are the headquarters of Living Divani in Anzano al Parco (2007) and Matteograssi in Giussano (2010).
